Makiya Musgrove Woods
Affinia Development Solutions was born from my belief that leadership effectiveness requires both inner work and real-world results. Before I built my career in executive coaching, talent, and leadership development, I spent my earliest career years in manufacturing leadership—an experience that deeply shaped how I think about accountability, performance, and what it takes to lead well in demanding environments.
That foundation still informs my work today: I believe leadership must be practical, grounded, and capable of producing results, even amid complexity and change. Over my 20-year career, I expanded into senior leadership roles across talent management, leadership development, DEI, and HR, ultimately serving as a vice president responsible for integrated leadership and talent strategies.
I created Affinia to bring those worlds together—pairing strategic business perspective with a deeply human, presence-based approach that helps leaders and teams move forward with greater clarity, trust, and impact.
Principles that guide my work
Results matter.
Leadership growth should strengthen real-world effectiveness, not just self-understanding.
Context matters.
Leaders and teams can only be understood within the systems they are navigating.
Clarity is kindness.
Honest conversations and clear expectations build stronger leadership and healthier teams.
Insight must lead to action.
Awareness is powerful when it changes behavior, decisions, and relationships.
The work must meet the moment.
Every engagement should reflect the client’s goals, pressures, and realities.
How i work
Steady presence.
Real momentum.
Clients often experience me as both grounding and catalytic. I bring warmth, presence, and discernment, while also helping people name what is true, focus on what matters, and move toward meaningful change. I do not offer generic development or one-size-fits-all solutions. I listen closely, understand context quickly, and tailor my approach so the work is relevant, practical, and aligned to the real challenges at hand.
Whether I am coaching an executive or facilitating a leadership team, clients leave with sharper insight, clearer choices, stronger alignment, and a deeper capacity to lead with courage, clarity, and impact.
Bringing 20+ years of experience to the table.
My work is informed by 20 years of leadership experience spanning both operational and people-focused environments. I began my career in manufacturing leadership at Texas Instruments, where I developed a strong orientation toward accountability, execution, and results. I later moved into senior leadership roles across talent management, leadership development, DEI, and HR, including serving as a vice president responsible for integrated leadership and talent strategies.
Today, I bring that combined perspective to my work as an executive coach, team effectiveness consultant, and leadership development partner. Clients gain more than a coach or facilitator—they gain a strategic thought partner who understands both the human side of leadership and the organizational realities that shape it.
